## Choose a legal curb position before moving day

A convenient spot is not always a legal loading position in Glen Ellyn. Village rules prohibit stopping where a vehicle blocks a driveway, sidewalk, intersection, or crosswalk.

A vehicle also cannot stand where it leaves less than 12 feet of usable roadway, within 30 feet of a traffic signal or stop sign, or within 50 feet of the nearest rail at a grade crossing. Walk the frontage before move day, note posted signs, and identify a backup position on private property if available.

Keep the truck, personal vehicles, ramps, and carried items out of travel lanes and pedestrian paths.

[Check current guidance from Village of Glen Ellyn — Parking Regulations](https://www.glenellyn.org/200/Parking-Regulations) 02 02

## Build a winter backup plan for curb access

Snow can change an otherwise workable local-move plan. Glen Ellyn prohibits parking on Village streets after two or more inches of snow have fallen, and the restriction remains until Village snow-removal operations are complete. Check the forecast before the move, then check street conditions again that morning.

If snow may affect the curb, confirm whether the property has a cleared driveway or another lawful loading point. Keep enough flexibility in the carry path to avoid snowbanks, plowed curb edges, and a last-minute relocation of the truck.

The rule applies to street parking, so do not assume a usual curb position will remain available.

[Check current guidance from Village of Glen Ellyn — Snow Management](https://www.glenellyn.org/260/Snow-Management) 03 03

## Recheck access around the downtown station

Moves near Crescent Boulevard, Main Street, Forest Avenue, or the Glen Ellyn Metra station need a current access check. The Village describes a station replacement, pedestrian underpass, utility work, and reconstruction along Crescent Boulevard from Main to Park and Forest Avenue from Duane to Pennsylvania.

The published schedule is time-sensitive, so use the live project page rather than assuming a street is open or closed. A few days before the move, review current notices, confirm the property's preferred approach, and share any active detour with everyone arriving separately.

Leave extra room in the plan for a different loading path if field conditions change.

“My family and I are so appreciative of the entire Falcon Moving team! Our move across town was seamless and enjoyable because of the helpful guys at Falcon. Gabe, our representative, was so attentive while setting up the date, time, and details of the move. He was full of amazing advice and ever patient through the process. We received text message alerts and reminders that were extremely helpful. I can’t say enough kinds words about Oliver, Seth, Jared, and Steven, our movers. They were punctual, polite, focused, efficient, and so fast! They took great care to make sure all furniture was wrapped tightly, carpet was protected, and always had our best interests in mind. Even after a 10 hour workday, they joked and laughed along with the whole family. These young men left us in awe. I highly recommend calling Falcon Movers for you next move.”

“We recently used Falcon Moving for a local move. They were excellent! The office was very easy to reach and they were very responsive to all our questions. The movers, Christian and Ramone did a very professional job of making sure everything was packed well and moved properly. The cost was a little higher than the original quote, but that was not their fault. The place were moving from had issues with the elevators. Excellent company, excellent move and I highly recommend them!!”

“Falcon has moved us twice! The first time was a local move and our original movers backed out at the last minute. Falcon saved us by scheduling us in (without extra fees) and got us moved with less than 1 week notice (during busy moving season nonetheless). The second time was an out of state move. We underestimated our items (we thought we could do it without a physical appraisal) and ran out of room in the truck! They came back the next day (we were out of state by then) and loaded the remaining items and cautiously loaded and wrapped our Gold Wing (yes we trusted them with it- they are that trustworthy) and brought the balance of our items to our new home. Shout out to Josh, Jordan, Luis, Daniel, Brian and all the other behind the scenes workers!”

“Just wanted to thank all: from David to the 2 teams of movers for my mom’s house move. They did a terrific job and would highly suggest them if looking for a local moving /storage company who handles the move like it was their own. Moving my mom out after 30 yrs was challenging but the move out and move into her new house went flawless. Thanks again ALL”
